Unit 1: Grammar

2. Adverbs of frequency

2.1. Position of the adverbs of frequency

We usually put adverbs of frequency between the subject and the main verb.

examples:    She always plays tennis on Monday.
You sometimes eat apples in the afternoon.
They never drink Coca-cola.

Or between the auxiliary and the main verb.

examples:     She doesn't always play tennis on Monday.
You don't usually eat apples in the afternoon.

But they come after the verb to be.

examples:    She is always in the park
You are never late to school.
