3. Preposicions

3.1. La preposició "DE" (of, from, out of, about)

La preposició de es pot traduir en anglès per les següents preposicions: of, from, out of, about. Veiem ara quan hem de fer servir cadascuna.

OF (la majoria dels sentits) FROM (procedència , punt de partença)

The table is made of wood. (=La taula és de fusta)

He is the love of my life. (=És l'amor de la meva vida)

He is proud of his son (=Està orgullós del seu fill)

He is the headmaster of the school (=És el director de l'escola)

They are from the Basque Country. (=Són del País Basc)

This bus comes from Tarragona. (=L'autocar ve de Tarragona).

They’re open from ten in the morning until ten at night. (=Obren de 10 del matí a 10 de la nit)
OUT OF (de dins a fora) ABOUT (assumpte)

My friends came out of the disco. (=Els meus amics van sortir de la discoteca)

He took the glasses out of his bag. (=Va treure les ulleres de la bossa)

The boys are talking about girls. (=Els nois estan parlant de noies)

They talk about the problems they have (=Parlen dels problemes que tenen)

He knows a lot about art. (=En sap molt d'art.)
